My strongest memory of a movie theater when I was a kid was of going to see “Old Yeller”. I had to drag my 4 year old brother with me and we got there late so had to sit in the aisle. About ten minutes into the movie, he started whining and then shouted out, “Somebody change the channel!” I had to take him out and missed the movie. At age 10 I was pretty upset about that. I laugh about it now and think how much easier it is these days to watch a movie. Whether something on cable, or DVD, you can hit Pause if the kids start to fuss, and not lose out completely. And if its the kids that are watching and they don’t like it, now you can simply go online and select another one of the thousands of mp4 movies in the collection. Kind of like changing the channel, it’s so easy. The movie download sites that are available have not only movies but thousands of e-books to read making entertainment easy to obtain. And for the one price lifetime memberships, you can’t beat the price, especially compared to cable On Demand costs per movie. I may be old, but I do love the new technology of mp4 movies.
In my own lifetime I have witnessed technology jump by leaps and bounds. As a child, going to the movies on Saturday afternoon was a thrill and I sat awestruck watching cartoons, movies and the ‘boring’ newsreels. Then TV was only black and white except for the more wealthy, but soon color TV was commonplace. But movie theaters still held the magic. As a young adult, somebody invented video tape and players and the war between VHS and Beta was on. VHS won then, but with the advent of DVD discs, VHS faded. For a long time, DVD rentals were big business, but just as mp3 audio format changed the music business, it wasn’t long before mp4 would begin to change the video business. Now people don’t want to wait for DVDs to come in the mail or to bother stopping by a rental store. We can now sit at our computers or iPads and order up the latest movies by joining something like iMovies Club and quickly getting mp4 movie downloads whenever we want!
Djembe drums as well as other types of African percussion and drums are made by the people out in small communities and villages. Just picture a group of artisans working under the cover of palm leaf roofs or trees, fashioning these popular drum frames by hand from the trunks of hard wood trees. Well, that’s the old image. Many times these days, djembes are made from PVC or other synthetic material.
Djembe drums are tuned by evenly pulling the vertical ropes very tightly which allows the metal tuning system to tighten the drum head over the drum shell. There are also metal tuning systems used.
To play a drum takes more than knowing rhythmic patterns and exercises. In fact, African drums are now used in entertainment, but not always as one in the Western culture would imagine. Djembe is often accompanied by other instruments such as the bells and dundun drums. Ceremonial African drums are not just instruments, but are the centerpieces of community activities. In many modern communities, drum circles of djembe players have been known to provide physiologically and psychologically therapeutic sessions with like-minded individuals.
Have you ever wondered how to write a screenplay? Lots of people have, and lots more have gone on to have a dream to write a screenplay that sells for a million bucks. But where do you start if you have this dream?
Well, the first thing you need is a story idea, and the best way to get one is to borrow one from a movie that you love. It’s not really stealing, since no movie is original. So to use the movies you love as inspiration is totally fine. The important thing is to bring something new to the story that you’re going to borrow.
Next, after you have you story, you need to outline the entire plot of your movie. To do this, just write around 40 scenes on index cards. If each of these scenes ends up being 3 minutes long, you’ve got yourself a 2 hour movie script, and that’s perfect.
Finally, you need some screenwriting software like Final Draft or Movie Magic. This will turn your words into a finished screenplay that you can send to Hollywood.
Hunting season is my favorite time of year. I love it because it is a chance to get some really good and unprocessed food to eat. I absolutely love the taste of game. It is so much better than the stuff we can get at the store.
It is such a shame that we can only get game at certain times of the year. It is also a shame that hunting has to be so heavily regulated. I wish the government would just stay out of the hunter’s way and let him kill and eat whatever he wants to eat. Life would be better because eating is so much healthier than eating processed crap. Not to mention, the processed crap is what causes cancer.
Since hunting season was to start in a few days, I got my crossbow ready. It was going to be an awesome time for me. My mouth waters thinking about all of the good game that I am going to eat.
